Leatherface

Since I've never done an official drawing of Leatherface, well i figured now was the time.

I first saw this movie back in college and I have to say in a way this piece is dedicated to the McKenzie brothers who brought this film into our loose circle of friends. I watched this at 22 and had to turn it off half way through it freaked me out so bad.  Strange enough, i watched the next second half the next day, at noon and laughed my ass off. go figure. Leatherface has always held some place in my psyche of monsters, but i strangely see him as a person who could have been saved, if CPS had stepped in early enough (haha).  well here he is, finally.

work in progress painting 9-14-10

i'm going a bit slow with this piece. I'm trying to be a bit more careful and really plan out what i'm doing.  sometimes it works and sometimes my impatience gets the best of me.  Lot's more to do to this.

sunday drawing

55 minute drawing.  trying to get a handle on a 'character' in the new painting. It feels like sculpting with a pen.

This book is broken into two chapters, the first being comprised of paintings dealings with themes of family, genetic and social attributes, death and life. going big: stage 1-drawing

Just finished a couple of pages for the graphic novel; check it out at
www.rlcreaturefeature.blogspot.com
here i'm posting the beginnings of a new piece i'm working on.
I'm glad to be working big again, the new drawing is around 2x5 feet on gessoed vellum and hopefully will go from a drawing into a painting.  i'm still working out compositional logistics and character elements, but for me, that's half the fun.

i'll post more as it comes.
